Gene's Great Adventures

Hello, I’m Gene.

First, let’s address the obvious. Yes, the title of the page is my full name Dale G. Copley so why does the header say “Hello I’m Gene”? Since I was three years old I have gone by my middle name. Now on to the serious stuff and hopefully the real reason you are here.

Second, if you are looking for a good or even great manager, you should keep looking. I am seeking an opportunity with a team of leaders who help each other become something better together than we are apart. This website is designed so you have the chance to get to know me a little better to see if we would be a good fit for each other.

Team Leadership

I was fortunate growing up. Although I was raised by a single mother, my grandfather was a huge influence in my life. My grandfather was a significant influence in my life.  He was the first true example of what a real leader can accomplish. True leaders who inspire that inspire others to do their very best to do their very best are a rare breed. This is where I truly excel, I have been leading since I was in the military whether I was sweeping the floor or negotiating a contract I have always believed we have an opportunity to influence others

Integrity

A person can never achieve any true leadership without having integrity. As you lead and inspire others they must trust that you will do what is right.

Leaders need to realize that their words, actions, decisions, and methodologies help to create the company’s true values and its culture.

Everyone is wildly ‘pro-integrity,’ but ask them what integrity actually means and they can rarely tell you, let alone translate their definition into specific behavioral expectations.

What is integrity as it relates to leadership, as it may differ from leader to leader here is my definition.

Integrity in leaders refers to being honest, trustworthy, and reliable. Leaders with integrity act in accordance with their words and own up to their mistakes, as opposed to hiding them, blaming their team, or making excuses. As my Grandfather used to say “Your actions speak so loud I can not hear your words” (yes he stole the saying). Two

Your Actions

Another great example comes from the book “Good to Great” which introduced the window and the mirror theory to me. It suggest that when your team achieves a success you look out the window and give praise to all the members who helped achieve those goals. And when there is a failure you look in the mirror to take responsibility and see what you can do to prevent similar situations in the future.

Training

Training and sharing knowledge is one of my many passions. Helping others reach and surpass their own expectations is something that brings me great joy. At each of my businesses and at every location I have had the opportunity to I have set up a one on one training policy.

Training others to do a multitude of jobs within a business has a large return on investment.

Employee

That investment shows up in employee satisfaction, retention, cross-training, better overview, and problems due to employees understanding the bigger picture as it relates to their position.

Of these retaining good employees is by far the biggest advantage and cost savings.
